Advancements in technology are rapid and spontaneous. There is no stopping the new innovations thanks to the keen insight into small details of life. Home entertainment is not a field lagging behind in the race towards the best technological development.
Liquid Color Display or LCD Screen technology is the updated version on technology after working so many years with CRT (Cathode Ray Tube). Liquid Color Display is the most advanced kind of screen.
The traditional CRT television sets are now out of place, being replaced with the LCD TVs. The liquid crystal display is now present in most of the household items such as microwave ovens, calculators; digital clocks are a few to name. People opt for LCD as they are slim, and sleek looking.
LCD screens are manufactured with a couple of layers. The material used for layers is transparent. The layers used are polarized and attached to each other. The polymer utilized is a special polymer type to be used with the LCD screens, usually the twisted nematic liquid crystals. The polymers used will hold the liquid crystals individually. Electricity is passed through the respective crystals to produce images. The displays switch between light and dark states that are when the liquid crystals are fully twisted or untwisted respectively. The fluorescent bulb utilized with the LCD screen is to create a lighting media for visibility. The user can view the image produced through the crystals. So it is the manipulation of the array of the tiny segments called pixels that help form images. The Thin Film Transistors (TFTs) direct the electric charges to a particular pixel in case of the LCD TVs.
Due to the features such as high and bright contrasts, the LCD and the plasmas turn the traditional CRT TV sets into dummies. The high contrast levels enable the LCD TV to perform well with most ambient light conditions, indicating that the lights need not have to be turned out for a quality picture viewing. Absolute no-flicker is the mantra for no eyestrain TV viewing with the flat panel TVs like the LCD and plasma TV. Added tuners and speakers are built-in with the LCD TVs so they seem to be like the plug-and-play devices and do not require extra wires and attachments tagging along the television set.
LCD TVs are quite expensive and extra care should be taken to give it long life and also maintain its pristine condition.
