Laptop LCD Repair For Dell Inspiron

We are going to go over Laptop LCD Repair for a Dell Inspiron notebook computer. First we must remember 2 important things:

  • There is a Wi-Fi antenna wire that runs around the outside of the laptop, care must be taken when removing the laptop front cover.
  • The inverter wires or two wires actually, must and we repeat, must stay connected when removing the LCD screen from the laptop. After it is removed you can disconnect the inverter wires.

  • Preparation
We will be using a phillips head (4 points) screw driver and also an Exakta knife.

Start by removing the screw covers which are made of rubber with the Exakta knife. Gently peel them away and put them off to the side. Then take the screw driver and remove the 6 screws that are now revealed. Put them off to the side with the rubber coverings as to make a point not to lose them.

Now take note of a few things here. At the bottom of the opened LCD screen you see the video data cable. To the right of that is the inverter cables, which remember we will disconnect at the very end. Notice the 2 hinges at the bottom that Dell Inspiron laptop lcd screen swings open and closed with. Lastly note the Wi-Fi wire that goes all the way around the LCD screen.

We will now remove the five frame screws that hold the laptop in place on the back casing. Use our phillips head screw driver to remove these 5 screws very gently. These screws are probably different size than the first set of 6 screws we removed earlier. Now be careful and remove the metal frame that the screws were securing to the laptop. This frame can be gently removed just take your time.

Nearing the end of the laptop lcd repair for our Dell Inspiron PC, slowly pull the LCD screen off the hinges taking care not to pull the video cable or inverter cables out yet. Lay the LCD screen down and gently remove the video cable which is thicker and towards the left of the inverter cable.
Sometimes the video cable is connected in two places so take special need and disconnect both if need be.

Lastly we will disconnect our inverter cable slowly. Make sure the laptop LCD screen is not touching the actual laptop at this point, and the only thing connecting them is the inverter wires, there are actually two of them there.

Now we are ready to do look at the screen and move forward with our Laptop LCD Repair - Dell Inspiron.
